About Vincentia Esinam Anthony

I am Vincentia Esinam Anthony, a self-taught Ghanaian abstract artist currently based in Northampton, UK. I view abstract art as a powerful medium for expressing ideas and emotions beyond the boundaries of direct representation.

My passion for art began in childhood. I spent hours drawing cartoon characters and crafting unique pieces from materials I found lying around the house. I would proudly display my creations on my father’s sideboard. Although I come from a family that encouraged me to pursue my dreams, I am the only one who ventured into the arts—while others followed paths in science, commerce, and more conventional careers that promised immediate security.

My artistic journey truly took off during my university years, when I wanted to decorate my bedroom with original paintings. After creating just two pieces, I was surprised to find eager buyers. That moment sparked something in me—and ever since, I have consistently shown up to create, driven and focused.

I draw inspiration from everyday life, nature, personal emotions, and interactions with fellow artists. Looking ahead, I plan to explore new mediums and approaches to continue engaging my audience with fresh and innovative expressions.

Through each stroke of my brush, I aim to evoke emotion and provoke a train of thoughts that make those who patronize my work to enter into a relaxed mode. My work is fueled by a desire for self-expression and a continual search for new ideas—always pushing the limits of my creativity. My journey is one of resilience, imagination, and discovery—a testament to the countless paths an artist can take.
